 Kundapur: State Govt Declares Netrani Island as Biodiversity
State has issued a notification declaring Netrani Island near Murudeshwar as Biodiversity Hot Spot.
Speaking to media persons, Ananth Hegde Ashisara, president of Task Force for Development of Western Ghats said that the government’s announcement comes in the awaken of pressing need to conserve the marine biodiversity. The announcement has been made State Biodiversity Board and it has been determined that the biodiversity board, State Wildlife Board and forest department will together strive to preserve the marine life in the region, he added.
The departments have also contemplated setting up various programmes to preserve and create awareness on the marine life such as setting up research centre and declaring the region as natural spot of the coastal region.

Good move by government. We need to have more sports like this. Our fishermen don't have any proper education and they are ready to spoil every single spot on the coastal areas. Lot of coastal areas are important breeding grounds and none of them have any safe zones for fishes.
