Most of the time only big fish are released. Fishing is at times a recreational sport. And big fish have great genetics, and spawn bigger fish. Furthermore, big fish tend to have large deposites of mercury and other contaminants. Therefore, always release the hogs, and eat the smaller ones, like 25-35 inches.

Thanks for your quick reply, i am still lurking in this forum. I have an other question. According to PETA ( People for ethical treatment for Animals ) its wrong to catch and release. They say most of the time the fish dies without eating if its released. Is it true.

I hate PETA. They even tell you to eat only plants who cares. Don't believe what PETA says they have complete wrong propaganda

I wouldn't go so hard on PETA. After all they are not for profit organization for the welfare of animals. You need to look into the facts from their words. I feel they have some credible information to support their claim
