Diagnosis : Dorsal spines (total): 10-10; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-9; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 7-7. Head scales reaching forward to level of posterior nostrils. Posterior margin of preopercle sloping backward slightly. Lower limb of preopercle scaly. Suborbital scaly. Posterior margin of suborbital fine serrate, no spine at upper corner. Pectoral fins long, reaching to above origin of anal fin. Pelvic fins long, reaching to or almost to level of anus. Color: Reddish throughout with a silvery lateral stripe.
Biology : Benthic on sand or mud bottoms in offshore waters (Ref. 30573). Feeds mainly on benthic invertebrates
