Distribution : Asia: India, Myanmar and Thailand. Found in the Salween basin (Ref. 12041).
Diagnosis : Dorsal soft rays (total): 12-12; Anal soft rays: 8-8; Vertebrae: 37-37. Distinguished from N. peguensis, its only congener, by the following characters: caudal peduncle depth 9.5-11.2% SL, 1.2-1.8 times in its length; 8 1/2 branched dorsal rays (Ref. 39226). Very thick lips surrounding a pre-oral cavity on the posterior top of which the mouth is situated (Ref. 37187).
Biology : A female measuring 5.67 cm SL has ovaries with ovulae about 0.6 mm in diameter; 2 females (6.18-6.63 cm SL) with ovulae about 1.0 mm in diameter (Ref. 39226)
